Su Embroidery Wood Ornament (Double-Sided Design)

Su Embroidery Wood Ornament (Double-Sided Design)

We designed this piece as an oriental decorative ornament that feels almost suspended between stillness and life.

At its heart lies Suzhou double-sided embroidery, one of the most difficult forms of Chinese craftsmanship. Each ornament features a two different designs, one on the front and another at the back. Every thread is placed with such precision that the image exists seamlessly on both sides; without knots and without compromise. A technique so exacting, it has long been considered the pinnacle of embroidery artistry.

Framed within a sculptural wooden silhouette, the composition feels balanced, intentional, and quietly alive, like a dialogue between nature, craftsmanship, and time.

The Crown Jewel of Suzhou Embroidery (苏绣)

Double-sided embroidery is often described as the “crown jewel” of Su embroidery; and for good reason.

Each motif is not simply stitched. The bird, poised in motion. The fruits, rendered with soft dimensionality. The leaves, layered with tonal depth. Every detail is mirrored on both sides with astonishing precision, requiring immense patience and mastery.

We chose this technique because it embodies what we stand for: devotion and mastery.

Crafted in Wood, Built to Endure

The frame is constructed using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, an ancient Chinese woodworking method that requires no nails, only precision.

Crafted from wenge wood, the structure carries a natural depth and quiet strength. When polished, the surface develops a soft, satin-like sheen: reminiscent of jade, yet warmer, more grounded.

It is a material that does not shout, but reveals itself slowly over time.

A Gift That Carries Meaning

Designed as both an object of beauty and intention, this piece sits effortlessly within a space. Whether as a statement on a console, a quiet presence in a study, or a meaningful gift.

It is often chosen for:

  • Housewarmings — as a symbol of harmony and continuity
  • Business gifting — refined, cultural, and lasting
  • Personal collections — for those drawn to heritage and craftsmanship

Because you are not simply placing an object in your home. You are placing a story.

No Two Pieces Are Ever the Same

Each piece is entirely hand-embroidered. Every stitch placed by hand, every thread guided with subtle human intention. Unlike machine-made works, where perfection is replicated, this is a craft where variation is not a flaw, but a signature.

You may notice slight differences in the way a petal curves, the depth of a colour, or the way light catches the threads. These are not inconsistencies. They are the quiet marks of the artisan: evidence that your piece was made, not produced.

In a world of repetition, this is what makes it rare. In a collection, this is what makes it yours.

A Certified Work of Art

At the heart of each design lies something rarely seen in modern objects: official recognition as a registered work of art.

Every embroidery motif is backed by a formal copyright registration under the National Copyright Administration of China, documenting its authorship, originality, and artistic ownership. This is a protected creation, with its origins formally recorded.

What this means for you is simple:

  • You are not collecting a decorative piece.
  • You are acquiring a work that exists within the realm of art, one that carries provenance, authorship, and legal recognition.

In a world where designs are endlessly reproduced, this stands apart. Not just made by hand, but recognised, recorded, and preserved.
